Burglary

Burglary is the sixth Crime released for Crimes 2.0, although it is actually crime number seven. It is a Theft crime.

Burglary contains the following subcrimes:

• Scout
• Case
• Burglarize

Burglary has players find, case, and ultimately break into properties to steal items. The first step in Burglary is scouting for a property. Next, players may either spend nerve to case discovered properties to ensure they are safe to burglarize or may immediately break-in at a higher risk of a critical failure.

Confidence gained from casing a property will slowly fade over time. Properties that are not interacted with for some time will disappear from a player's list.

The Crime Enhancer used for Burglary is the item: Flashlight

There are 34 unique outcomes for the Burglary crime, one at each unique location. All unique outcomes require the location's recommended item to be obtained.

Targets in burglary will expire 72 hours after your last interaction with them. Additionally they begin pulsing when there is less than 12hrs until they expire.

Scouting

"Scouting" is a three nerve Burglary subcrime that will locate a property that the player can burglarize. This subcrime has a 100% success rate.

Scouting has three different districts where a player can look for properties:

• Residential Targets: Available at Burglary crime skill level one
• Commercial Targets: Available at Burglary crime skill level 25
• Industrial Targets: Available at Burglary crime skill level 50

Some locations may only be found through scouting once a certain skill threshold has been reached.

A player can have a maximum of 100 locations scouted at once.

Focused Scouting

Focused scouting(released 20/05/25) allows you to scout specific targets you have successfully burgled before.

Scouting a specific target requires 9 nerve instead of 3, but will always produce the target of your choice.

Casing

"Casing" is an optional two nerve Burglary subcrime that will build confidence that a location is safe to burglarize. The higher the confidence rating of a property, the higher the success rate will be when a player burglarizes it. Once a property has been cased enough it will be marked "all clear" for a short time. Burglary at a location marked "all clear" will have a 100% success rate.

Casing has a fairly high failure rate, but a very low (possibly zero) critical failure rate. If a casing attempt is failed, no confidence will be gained or lost but the location will be marked "too dangerous" and cannot be attempted for further casing or burglary for a short time. In rare cases, a failure will cause a property to be removed from a player's list of locations.

Some properties are more difficult to build confidence at than others and will take more casing attempts to establish an all clear. Players with higher Burglary skill levels will gain more confidence per successful casing attempt. There appears to be a slight boost to casing success rates during the night time (TCT) compared to the daytime

A Rope can be found while casing a mobile home. This is the only currently known reward for casing outside of building confidence.

Burglarize

"Burglarize" is a six nerve Burglary subcrime, and with one exception, the only subcrime that can reward cash or items.

Players can attempt to burglarize any location they have scouted that is not on cooldown for being too dangerous from a failed casing attempt. All 34 unique are found through this subcrime.

The success rate of a burglarize attempt depends on the confidence established by casing. While it is possible to successfully burglarize a location without casing and with a 0% confidence rating, both the failure and critical failure rates will be much higher.

Each location has a recommended item for Burglarizing. If a player has this item in their inventory, upon a successful Burglarize attempt, there will be extra results in the reward pool that would otherwise be unavailable.

Residential Targets

Residential targets are available starting at Burglary skill level one. Residential targets generally have the least valuable rewards but also require fewer casing attempts for an all-clear.

There are 12 different residential targets.

Apartment

Recommended item: Credit Card

"Apartment" is a residential target available starting at Burglary skill level 14. The recommended item, which unlocks additional outcomes, is a Credit Card.

Successfully burglarizing an Apartment can net anywhere between $5,002-99,790 or items. This location's unique outcome is a Personal Computer, High-Speed Drive, and a Blank DVDs. This unique is available as soon as Apartment access is unlocked but requires a player to have a Credit Card in their inventory.
