Kitchen Knife is a Melee Piercing weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop.

The Kitchen Knife was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]

Usage

Some players use a Kitchen Knife or another slashing or piercing weapon with the Eviscerate bonus in the opening turns of a long fight to cause more damage over the duration of the fight. Due to the weapon's lower stats, Kitchen Knives that are obtained from Melee Caches and have less desirable bonuses are commonly traded in at Big Al's Bunker for Bunker Bucks.

Obtaining

The Kitchen Knife is most commonly obtained through crimes. It can also be purchased from Big Al's and be found through city finds.

The Kitchen Knife can be found as a result of the following crimes:

Pickpocketing:

  • "Gang Member" (quantity 1)

Burglary:

  • Residential:
    • "Farmhouse" (quantity 1)
    • "Mobile Home" (quantity 1)
  • Commercial:
  • Industrial:
    • "Slaughterhouse" (quantity 1)

1,000 Kitchen Knives will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.

Kitchen Knives can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Melee weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.

A high quality Kitchen Knife with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Melee Cache. A Kitchen Knife obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 40 and an Accuracy stat up to 70.

Buffs

Players can gain Weapon Experience on Kitchen Knives once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Kitchen Knives, along with all melee weapons, receive a 10% damage bonus from the "Drunken Master" 3* special at Pubs and Restaurants, and a 2% damage bonus from the completion of the "HIS2170 Medieval History" course.

The Kitchen Knife is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.
