Search For Cash

The Search for Cash Crime is the first type of crime released with Crimes 2.0. It is a Theft crime and all subcrimes take two Nerve to attempt.

Search for cash contains the following subcrimes:

• Search the Trash
• Search the Subway
• Search the Junkyard
• Search the Beach (requires a Metal Detector)
• Search the Cemetery (requires a Cemetery Key)
• Search the Fountain (requires level 75 crime skill)

The Crime Enhancer used for Search for cash is the item: Glasses

Note: It is possible to have a critical fail when attempting search for cash in which a player will lose their Glasses enhancer

Search the Trash

Requirements: None

Trash Collection: Mondays 6:00 - 18:00 TCT

"Search the Trash" is a two nerve Search for Cash subcrime. Its success rate depends on how recently trash collection took place, with longer periods since the trash was collected translating to higher crime success rates. Sunday night into Monday morning sees the highest success rate for this crime, while Monday night sees the lowest.

A successful "Search the Trash" attempt can net anywhere between $7-$500 or items. This is the only crime that can give the seven "rotten" items needed for the "Spoiled Rotten" Honor.

Critical fails for Search the Trash can:

1. Send a player to Jail for between 17 minutes and 3 hours and 15 minutes

   or

2. Remove between 8 and 965 of a player's Life.
   • Sending a player to the Hospital for a period of 2 hours if life lost exceeds the player's current health

Requirements: None

Search the Subway is a two nerve Search for Cash subcrime. Its success rate depends on how many riders are using the subway, with more riders translating to higher crime success rates. The number of riders is based on the number of players online, requiring approximately 14,600 players online in the past hour to hit 100% ridership.

A successful Search the Subway attempt can net anywhere between $1-$4,820 or items.

Critical fails for Search the Subway can:

1. Send a player to Jail for between 14 minutes and 2 hours and 44 minutes (or over 20 hours in rare instances)

   or

2. Remove between 10 and 965 of a player's Life.
   • Send a player to the Hospital for between 2 hour and 56 minutes and 3 hours 13 minutes if life lost exceeds the player's current health

Active dirty bombs prevent players from attempting Search the Subway.

"Search the Junkyard" is a two nerve Search for Cash subcrime. Its success rate depends on crushing times. The lowest success rates are Friday evening, while the highest are on Monday morning.

"Search the Junkyard" is the only known way to obtain the Metal Detector- it is likely that players will only ever be able to get one.

A successful "Search the Junkyard" attempt can net anywhere between $6-$2,400 or items.

Critical fails for Search the Junkyard can:

1. Send a player to Jail for between 15 minutes and 2 hours and 30 minutes

   or

2. Remove between 47 and 1009 of a player's Life.
   • Send a player to the Hospital for between 37 minutes and 3 hours 14 minutes if life lost exceeds the player's current health

"Search the Beach" is a two nerve Search for Cash subcrime. Its success rate depends on the tide, which is based on an algorithm that approximates real-life tidal patterns, with lower tides translating to higher crime success rates.

A monthly projection for tidal levels based on Torn's tidal algorithm

"Search the Beach" is the only known way to obtain the Cemetery Key- it is likely that players will only ever be able to get one.

A successful "Search the Beach" attempt can net anywhere between $3-$1,550 (or as high as 4,600 at high tide) or items.

Critical fails for Search the Beach can:

1. Send a player to Jail for between 15 minutes and 3 hours and 2 minutes

   or

2. Remove between 7 and 1979 of a player's Life.
   • Send a player to the Hospital for between between 2 hours and 50 minutes and 5 hours and 12 minutes if life lost exceeds the player's current health

"Search the Cemetery" is a two nerve Search for Cash subcrime. Its success rate depends on if groundskeeping is happening, having higher success rates when groundskeepers are not present. Groundskeeping takes place during the day Monday through Friday.

A successful "Search the Cemetery" attempt can net anywhere between $29-$690 or items.

Critical fails for Search the Cemetery can:

1. Send a player to Jail for between 15 minutes and 3 hours and 15 minutes

   or

2. Remove between 8 and 1007 of a player's Life.
