Magnum

Magnum is a Secondary Pistol weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop, where it is the most expensive Secondary weapon item available. Magnum is also classified as a Revolver.
The Magnum was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]
Without any Ammo management buffs, the Magnum can be used three to six times before needing to reload.
Usage
In Crimes 1.0, a Magnum can be used to satisfy the requirement of having a Primary or Secondary weapon equipped to commit the Armed Robberies crime.
Some players equip a Magnum or another pistol weapon with the Execute bonus in their secondary slot to quickly take down opponents with low health. Due to the weapon's lower stats, Magnums with less desirable bonuses are commonly traded in at Big Al's Bunker for Bunker Bucks.
Obtaining
The Magnum is most commonly obtained through crimes. It can also be purchased from Big Al's and be found through city finds.
The Magnum can be found as a result of the following crimes:
- "Big Al's Gun Shop" (quantity 1)
- Residential:
- "Toolshed" (quantity 1, requires Lockpicks)
- Commercial:
- "Cleaning Agency" (quantity 1, requires Jemmy)
- Industrial:
- "Printing Works" (quantity 1, requires Window Breaker)
1,000 Magnums will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.
Magnums can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Secondary weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.
A high quality Magnum with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Small Arms Cache. A Magnum obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 70 and an Accuracy stat up to 53.
Buffs
Like other revolvers, the Magnum cannot use Extended Magazine style weapon mods. It is also unable to use special ammo outside of Hollow Points rounds, as they are the only special ammo available in .44 Special.
Players can gain Weapon Experience on Magnums once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Magnums and all primary and secondary weapons gain a 20% damage boost from the "Firearms Expert" 10* special and an extra clip from the "Bandolier" 7* special at Gun Shops.
Magnums, along with all primary and secondary weapons, receive a 20% and 5% bonus to Ammo conservation from the "MTH3330 Bachelor of Mathematics" and "MTH2310 Discrete Mathematics" courses respectively. The "CBT2840 Study of Pistols" course gives +1 accuracy to all pistols.
The Magnum is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.

Historical Notes
in the early days of the game, the Magnum saw heavy use among players under level 15, as it was the most powerful Secondary weapon at Big Al's after the Desert Eagle and Dual 92G Berettas were moved to Mexico.
All Magnums used to have the same damage and accuracy stats. Unique stats for each Magnum were revealed in a December 2015 update. [2]
In the old Ammo system prior to the Attacking 2.0 update, ammo for the Magnum costed $30 per clip. The icon for the ammo (
