Hammer is a Melee Clubbing weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop, where it is the cheapest item available.

The Hammer was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]

The Hammer has a stealth rating of 7.6.

Obtaining

The Hammer is most commonly obtained as a purchase from Big Al's. It can also be found as a result of the "Search the Cemetery" Search For Cash subcrime and through city finds.

1,000 Hammers will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.

Hammers can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Melee weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.

A high quality Hammer with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Melee Cache. A Hammer obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 32 and an Accuracy stat up to 70.

Usage

Having a Hammer in a player's inventory is required to commit the Cars larceny crime.

The Duke Contract "Hammer Time" requires a target to be defeated using either a Hammer or Duke's Hammer. Hammers with bonuses that boost damage, such as Empower or Powerful, are sometimes used for this purpose.

Some players use a Hammer or another clubbing weapon with the Home Run bonus when Attacking to ward off an opponent's Temporary weapons such as the Flash Grenade. Due to the weapon's lower stats, Hammers with less desirable bonuses are commonly traded in at Big Al's Bunker for Bunker Bucks.

Buffs

Players can gain Weapon Experience on Hammers once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Hammers, along with all melee weapons, receive a 10% damage bonus from the "Drunken Master" 3* special at Pubs and Restaurants, and a 2% damage bonus from the completion of the "HIS2170 Medieval History" course.

The Hammer is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.
