Small First Aid Kit (commonly abbreviated to "SFAK" by players) is a Medical item that can be purchased from and sold to the Pharmacy.

The Small First Aid Kit was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]

Unlike Blood Bags, SFAKs can be used by any player to reduce Hospital time and restore % of life.

Obtaining

The SFAK is primarily obtained by opening Boxes of Medical Supplies, which have a 25% chance to give 50 SFAKs. [2] It can also be purchased at the Pharmacy, found through city finds, be obtained from the Medical job special to steal a SFAK for two Medical Points once a player reaches the rank of Houseman, and be traded between players.

The Small First Aid Kit can be found as a result of the following crimes:

Shoplifting:

  • "Pharmacy" (quantity one)

Pickpocketing:

  • "Cyclist" (quantity one)
  • "Homeless Person" (quantity one)

Burglary:

  • "Chiropractor" (quantity two)
  • "Dentists Office" (quantity one)
  • "Dockside Warehouse" (quantity six)
  • "Foundry" (quantity two)
  • "Postal Office" (quantity two)
  • "Slaughterhouse" (quantity one)
  • "Tool Shed" (quantity one, requires a Flashlight)

Six Small First Aid Kits can be found with two First Aid Kits one time per player as a unique result for the "West Side" Graffiti subcrime when the player has reached at least reputation 1 in the West Side.

SFAKs can be purchased from the Mission reward shop in varying quantities.

Usage

Using a SFAK will increase a player's Life by 5% of its maximum, increase medical cooldown by 10 minutes and reduce Hospital time by 20 minutes if a player is in the hospital. While the SFAK's life gain and hospital reduction are inferior to Blood Bags, SFAKs have the benefit of being usable by anyone.

Due to being the cheapest Medical item, the SFAK is sometimes used for the final few minutes of a hospital stay, or to med out after shorter hospitalizations, such as a face punch from Leslie's Spin The Wheel.

Perks

If a player has all medical item effectiveness perks, a SFAK can reduce a maximum of 30 minutes of hospital time and restore up to 7.5% life.

The Fortitude branch of Faction upgrades consists of 15 upgrades for medical item effectiveness, increasing in 2% increments to achieve a total of 30% effectiveness.

Completing BIO2360: Intermediate Biochemistry and BIO2360: Advanced Biochemistry courses in Education each provides a 10% boost to medical item effectiveness, reaching a total of 20% effectiveness.
