Sawed-Off Shotgun
Not to be confused with Homemade Pocket Shotgun

Sawed-Off Shotgun is a Primary Shotgun weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop, and is the cheapest Shotgun and Primary that can be purchased from shops in the game.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]
Without any Ammo management buffs, the Sawed-Off Shotgun can be used one to two times before needing to reload.
Usage
Some players use a Sawed-Off Shotgun with the Bleed, Blindside, or Eviscerate bonuses in the opening turns of a long fight to increase damage against an opponent. Due to its low ammo capacity, a Sawed-Off Shotgun with these bonuses is uniquely useful when defending with Primary weapon reloads off, as it will only be used once or twice to land the bonus, followed by the player automatically switching to a more powerful Melee or Secondary weapon.
Due to the weapon's lower stats and ammo capacity, Sawed-Off Shotguns with less desirable bonuses are commonly traded in at Big Al's Bunker for Bunker Bucks.
Obtaining
The Sawed-Off Shotgun is most commonly obtained through crimes. It can also be purchased from Big Al's, be found through city finds, and be given as a mystery gift from the Wheel of Lame.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun can be found as a result of the following crimes:
- "Big Al's Gun Shop" (quantity 1)
- Residential:
- "Tool Shed" (quantity 1, requires Lockpicks)
1,000 Sawed-Off Shotguns will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.
Sawed-Off Shotguns can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Primary weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.
A high quality Sawed-Off Shotgun with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Medium Arms Cache. A Sawed-Off Shotgun obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 56 and an Accuracy stat up to 78.
Buffs
The Sawed-Off Shotgun cannot use Extended Magazine style weapon mods. It can use all four types of 12 gauge special ammo.
Players can gain Weapon Experience on Sawed-Off Shotguns once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Sawed-Off Shotguns and all primary and secondary weapons gain a 20% damage boost from the "Firearms Expert" 10* special and an extra clip from the "Bandolier" 7* special at Gun Shops.
Sawed-Off Shotguns, along with all primary and secondary weapons, receive a 20% and 5% bonus to Ammo conservation from the "MTH3330 Bachelor of Mathematics" and "MTH2310 Discrete Mathematics" courses respectively. The "CBT2125 Study of Shotguns" course gives +1 accuracy to all shotguns.
The Sawed-Off Shotgun is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.
