Steyr AUG is a Primary Rifle weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop, where it is the most expensive item available.

The Steyr AUG was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta.

The Steyr AUG is the least accurate Rifle in the game.

Without any Ammo management buffs, the Steyr AUG can be used four to six times before needing to reload.

Usage

Due to their relatively high overall stats, Steyr AUGs with desirable Weapon Bonuses are sometimes used by players who can afford them for general attacking, Faction Warfare, Ranked Wars, and NPC looting.

Obtaining

The Steyr AUG is most commonly obtained as a purchase from Big Al's. It can also be found through city finds, given as a mystery gift from the Wheel of Mediocrity, and is a possible result from paying 75 job points to use the Private Security Firm 5* special, "Open Arsenal."

A Steyr AUG can be found one time per player as a unique result for the "Big Al's Gun Shop" Shoplifting subcrime when the shop's guard is on break.

1,000 Steyr AUGs will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.

Steyr AUGs can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Primary weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.

A high quality Steyr AUG with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Medium Arms Cache. A Steyr AUG obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 79 and an Accuracy stat up to 60.

Buffs

The Steyr AUG can use all Weapon Mods that are compatible with Rifles. It can also use all four types of 5.56mm special ammo.

Players can gain Weapon Experience on Steyr AUGs once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Steyr AUGs and all primary and secondary weapons gain a 20% damage boost from the "Firearms Expert" 10* special and an extra clip from the "Bandolier" 7* special at Gun Shops.

Steyr AUGs, along with all primary and secondary weapons, receive a 20% and 5% bonus to Ammo conservation from the "MTH3330 Bachelor of Mathematics" and "MTH2310 Discrete Mathematics" courses respectively. The "CBT2850 Study of Rifles" course gives +1 accuracy to all rifles.

The Steyr AUG is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.

Historical Notes

in the early days of the game, the Steyr AUG saw heavy use among players under level 15, as it was the most damaging Primary weapon at Big Al's after the Minigun and M249 SAW were moved to Mexico.

All Steyr AUGs used to have the same damage and accuracy stats. Unique stats for each Steyr AUG were revealed in a December 2015 update.

In the old Ammo system prior to the Attacking 2.0 update, ammo for the Steyr AUG costed $750 per clip. The icon for the ammo ( ) was a small rifle cartridge.
