Ruger 57
Not to be confused with Luger
Ruger 57 is a Secondary Pistol weapon that can be purchased from and sold to Big Al's Gun Shop.
The Ruger 57 was one of the items available at the launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]
Without any Ammo management buffs, the Glock 17 can be used four to five times before needing to reload. It has a stealth rating of 4.9, tying it with the Raven MP25, Fiveseven, and Beretta Pico for the Pistol with the highest stealth rating.
Usage
Some players equip a Ruger 57 or another Pistol weapon with the Execute bonus in their secondary slot to quickly take down opponents with low health. Due to the weapon's lower stats, Ruger 57s with less desirable bonuses are commonly traded in at Big Al's Bunker for Bunker Bucks.
Obtaining
The Ruger 57 is most commonly obtained as a purchase from Big Al's. It can also be found through city finds and is a possible result from paying 75 job points to use the Private Security Firm 5* special, "Open Arsenal." [2]
The Ruger 57 can be found as a result of the following crimes:
- "Big Al's Gun Shop" (quantity 1, cameras disabled and guards on duty only)
1,000 Ruger 57s will be restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurs is half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.
Ruger 57s can be bought from other players through the Item Market, Bazaars, or Trades, but as Secondary weapons do not stack they must be purchased one by one, making it time consuming to buy in bulk.
A high quality Ruger 57 with a Weapon Bonus can be obtained by opening a Small Arms Cache. A Ruger 57 obtained this way can have a Damage stat up to 47 and an Accuracy stat up to 71.
Buffs
The Ruger 57 can use all Weapon Mods that are compatible with Pistols. It can also use all four types of 5.7mm special ammo.
Players can gain Weapon Experience on Ruger 57s once the "CBT3870 Bachelor of Military Arts and Science" Education course has been completed. Ruger 57s and all primary and secondary weapons gain a 20% damage boost from the "Firearms Expert" 10* special and an extra clip from the "Bandolier" 7* special at Gun Shops.
Ruger 57s, along with all primary and secondary weapons, receive a 20% and 5% bonus to Ammo conservation from the "MTH3330 Bachelor of Mathematics" and "MTH2310 Discrete Mathematics" courses respectively. The "CBT2840 Study of Pistols" course gives +1 accuracy to all pistols.
The Ruger 57 is affected by all universal buffs such as the 1% damage boost from completion of the "BIO2350 Evolution" course or the +3 accuracy from the "Seasoned Poacher" 10* Zoo special.

Historical Notes
The Ruger 57 was originally referred to as the "Ruger 22/45." The gun's name was updated on 1/1/23 [3] to the Ruger 57, as the gun's in game caliber, the 5.7mm High Vel. Round, did not match the 22/45's real life caliber of .22 Long Rifle (5.6x15mmR in metric). The update also changed the gun's ammo capacity from 15 to 20.
All Ruger 57s used to have the same damage and accuracy stats. Unique stats for each Ruger 57 were revealed in a December 2015 update. [4]
In the old Ammo system prior to the Attacking 2.0 update, ammo for the Ruger 57 costed $15 per clip. The icon for the ammo ( ) was a small pistol cartridge. [5]
