Black Easter Egg is a Booster item that was released in April 2010 and was one of the original six colored Easter Eggs added to the game. [1] The Black Easter Egg is found during the annual Easter Egg Hunt and gives a player money when eaten. It cannot be sold to a store.

All Black Easter Eggs that existed on 23 March 2023 were converted into the Chocolate Egg, a one-time event that was meant to prevent players from having large stocks of eggs from previous years after their effect was changed. [2]

Obtaining

The Black Easter Egg can only be obtained during April. It can be obtained as Loot by defeating the Easter Bunny [17] [3] or from the Easter Egg Hunt, during which eggs spawn on-screen. The Black Easter Egg will be added to a player's inventory when clicking its corresponding icon.

The Black Easter Egg cannot be obtained through city finds and cannot be traded between players. The egg's spawn rate is tied with the Blue Easter Egg and is in the middle when compared to the rarity of spawns from other easter eggs. [4]

Usage

The Black Egg gives money when consumed and increases the Booster Cooldown by six hours. The amount of money received varies. A rumour[5] suggests it may be based on crime earnings, though this could be incorrect, as players have reportedly received less than in previous years after consuming an egg.[6]

Historical Notes

In the first year of the event, Easter Eggs were added directly to a player's inventory through random events when a player visited a section of Torn corresponding to that egg. The Black Easter Egg had a chance to be found when a player clicked Crimes. This theme around crime was kept as finding Black Easter Eggs gave crime experience from 2011 to 2022 and now give cash. [7]

Eggs began to randomly spawn on-screen in 2011, during the second year of the Easter Egg Hunt. The Black Easter Egg gave crime experience when clicked. [8] The only effect upon consumption was increasing a player's happiness by 50 and booster cooldown by 30 minutes. [9] All colored easter eggs with this effect were converted into Chocolate Eggs on 23 March 2023. 70,344 Black Easter Eggs were changed to Chocolate Eggs in total. The Black Easter Egg was also changed from a Candy item to a Booster item the same day.

Prior to the end of the 2022 Easter Egg Hunt, a full set of colored Easter Eggs could be traded in for a Gold Easter Egg, 20 Points, and the Good Friday honor while the event was running.
