Armored Virus
Armored Virus is a Tool item (Virus) that was released in late 2004. [1] It can be acquired through virus programming and can be sold to (but not purchased at) Cyber Force.
The Armored Virus is used in "Plant a Computer Virus" crimes.
Obtaining
The Armored Virus can be programmed using a Personal Computer, Laptop, or Gold Laptop after completion of the CMT2560 Algorithms and Advanced Programming Education course. An Armored Virus takes 60 days to program. It can also be traded between players. Armored Viruses cannot be found through city finds. [2]
The programming time for an Armored Virus can be reduced through various methods. With all Education completed, the Armored Virus's programming time will be 42 days, or ten days with all coding time reductions. Viruses always finish coding shortly after 03:25 TC Time. [3] Programming will continue even if a player disposes of all their computers.
Methods of Reducing Virus Programming Time | ||
---|---|---|
Method | Reduction | |
Working at a Software Corporation | 50% | |
Owning a Dividend Block of I Industries Ltd. | 50% | |
Completion of the "CMT2580 Software Engineering" Education course | 20% | |
Completion of the "CMT2600 Natural Language Engineering" Education course | 10% |
Usage
The Armored Virus is required to do the "Armored Virus" Virus crime. This crime is rarely done as the "Stealth Virus" crime cannot send a player to the Jail or Hospital and gives more money and Crime Experience than any other Virus crimes.
The Armored Virus is not consumed upon use, and can be reused for the crime.

Historical Notes
All Virus items were changed to Tool category. [4]
The Education course required to program the Armored Virus was originally called the "Expert Programming Course." [5]
"Armored" originally used the British English spelling of "Armoured," but this was standardized site wide to the American English spelling in October 2018. [6]
