Obsidian Point
Obsidian Point #1499

Obsidian forms when silica-rich lava cools so quickly that crystals never get a chance to grow, leaving behind a smooth, glassy rock. Jet-black and reflective, an obsidian arrowhead looks like a tiny shard of polished night-time, and was used for hunting and warfare by the Aztecs and Maya people. However, much like its namesake game studio, obsidian is a one-hit wonder, its brittle nature causing it to shatter on impact. Weak as they may be, obsidian points are razor sharp, flintknapped to an edge as fine as surgical steel. The obsidian trade was enormous in pre-Columbian Mexico, but later gave way to cocaine and avocados, which is also the title of Shia LaBeouf’s autobiography.
