Unused

"Unused" items are a small category of items that were created and never used. There are several items that exist only in the game's code that are not currently used in any part of the game but are marked as "other"- only a small number of items are in the actual "unused" category.

These items may have been filler for item ID skips or for canceled updates. The property blueprints were originally meant to create the associated property through an architecture firm, and a general construction firm would then use them to create properties. This update was canceled to avoid saturating the property market more than it already was.

No Unused items are held by players with the exception of the Unknown.

Unknown [168]

One unused item is held by non-admin or test accounts: the Unknown (item ID 168, not to be confused with the item of the same name and image with an ID of 208).

Seven are in circulation, but only five are in display cases, with the other two items locations being unknown. The current known players to hold an Unknown in their Display Case are Damaster [641864] and Ohadik [424017], who are currently active. Another two belong to Aethwynn [9900] and Reticent [216153], who are long-term inactive, with the last one held by Jiff [535425], who is in Federal Jail.

How this item escaped admin accounts is unknown; Hydr0 [304168], who was the game's community manager at the time of the Unknown's creation, was surprised to see some in players' hands and did not have an explanation how that happened. Neither Hydr0 nor Chedburn remember the reason the Unknown was created in the first place.

Torn staff have so far not shown interest in taking the unused items away from the players who currently hold them; both damaster and Ohadik purchased them from other players and are not responsible for the items being illegally put into player circulation. While Reticent and Jiff have not spoken on the issue and are inactive, they are not known to have been staff and thus would not have had the power to get the items off of staff and test accounts. Aethwynn is a former CM. Staff has not commented officially about their access to such items.

Possible Origin: Expert sleuthing by damaster has led to some hints to the item's origins. However, anything concrete is yet to be determined.
