Crimes 2.0
First mention
Crimes 2.0 was first mentioned by Chedburn in the old forums, on the 21st September 2012. You can find this in the announcement of RESPO / "Torn 2.0" here.
Crimes 1.0 was described in this post as too simple in base and design, with 8 (at the time) year old code, and unrealistic crime order. It is also not database driven; all of these limitations to be addressed with a full Crimes update.
Plans included infinitely expandable crimes, subcrimes and outcomes - including Racketeering, Pimping and Card Skimming. Additionally unique crime effects such as "police response time", "building client bases" and "area notoriety" were planned.
At the time of this first mention it was claimed 2 of the planned 19 crimes were fully designed, with the rest loosely designed, and that construction programming-wise would begin a month later.

Warring
First mention
Brand new plans for warring, so called "Warring 2.0" , were first mentioned in the Spring newsletter of 2017. In this newsletter, three types of warring were detailed: Chaining 2.0, Competitive Warring 2.0 and Destructive Warring. Together with Territorial Warfare these would complete the warring overhaul.
- Chaining will be any attacks on any player, instead of just hospitalising a player in your faction warbase. Additionally there will be respect bonuses at 13 increments up to 100,000.
- Destructive warring will be a type of warfare designed specifically to allow factions to remove respect from enemy factions, and even destroy them in rare circumstances.
- Competitive warring will be a ranked warring system. The newsletter claims that there will be 5-7 faction "tiers", on a similar scale to bronze, silver, gold and diamond.
Chaining 2.0
As of November 2019 "Chaining 2.0" is still only partially released. 50,000 and 100,000 chains (for which there is a scheduled honor bar) have not been pushed.
Timeline
- 19th November 2018: In response to a suggestion from Hank, Chedburn stated that the next (50,000) chaining upgrade could be released with "Raiding". Raiding however, was released in January of 2019, without the 50,000 chain upgrade.
