Blank DVDs : 100 is a depreciated Material item that could be purchased from and sold to the Super Store. They were retired on 19 March 2024. All Blank DVDs : 100 became Blank DVDs.

The Blank DVDs : 100 was one of the items available at the official launch of Torn on 15 November 2004, having been introduced during the Torn City Beta. [1]

Depreciation

The Blank DVDs : 50, Blank DVDs : 100, and Blank DVDs : 250 were all combined into the Blank DVDs item on 19 March 2024. As Blank DVDs each add 250 DVDs to a player's Bootlegging stockpile, this change was a buff for players holding Blank DVDs : 100s, as each of their Blank DVDs : 50s now contained 150 extra DVDs.

1,963,791 Blank DVDs : 100s were converted to Blank DVDs.

Usage

The Blank DVDs : 100 was used in Bootlegging crimes. 100 DVDs were added to a player's total number available for use in the crime every time a Blank DVDs : 100 was used.

Obtaining

The Blank DVDs : 100 could be purchased from the Torn City Super Store, found through city finds, and could be traded between players. In Crimes 1.0, it could also be obtained through the "Computer Stall" shoplifting crime at any Crime Experience level.

The Blank DVDs : 100 were available for a little under a year after the release of Crimes 2.0. The Blank DVDs : 100 were known to be found as a result of the following crimes in Crimes 2.0:

Search For Cash:

  • "Search the Junkyard" (quantity 1)

Shoplifting:

  • "Super Store" (quantity 1-2)

Burglary:

  • "Bungalow" (quantity 1)
  • "Market" (quantity 5)
  • "Printing Works" (quantity 1)
  • "Self-Storage Facility" (quantity 10)

1,000 Blank DVDs : 100 restocked at Big Al's after being sold out. The amount of time before a restock occurred was half the time it took the item to sell out, rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.

Historical Notes

While all Blank DVDs : 100 were changed to Blank DVDs on 19 March 2024, there was a two day period where Blank DVDs : 100s could still be obtained through shoplift crimes by players who were still in Crimes 1.0. At least 71 were obtained this way before the loophole was closed and all newly obtained Blank DVDs : 100 were also converted into Blank DVDs on 21 March 2024. [2]

The Blank DVDs : 100 was originally known as the "Pack of Blank CDs." Its name was updated to "Pack of Blank CDs : 100" on 14 February 2019 [3], along with the addition of the Pack of Blank CDs : 250 and Pack of Blank CDs : 50. The item's name was updated again to "Blank DVDs : 100" on 4 July 2023 alongside the release of the Bootlegging crime. [4] It was changed from an Other to an Electronic item on 21 November 2020 [5] and changed again to a Material item on 1 April 2024, after it was retired. [6] As the Electronics category was removed from the game, even though the Blank DVDs : 100 were no longer in the game, the category still had to be changed as the item still exists in the game's code.

In the early days of Crimes 1.0 there was a Market Stall shoplift crime explicitly for Packs of Blank CDs. [7] At the time, there was only one Pack of Blank CDs item, so the Blank DVDs : 250 and the Blank DVDs : 50 could not be obtained this way. Stealing the Blank DVDs : 100 (at the time called Pack of Blank CDs) was consolidated into the "Computer Stall" shoplift crime.
